apple

Apple computers, a company know for its design savvy, user friendly products, have also ran some of the greatest marketing campaigns of all time...below is the evolution of apple marketing, starting with their first commercial to the present day.

Wong Kar-wai

Wong Kar-wai, visionary Hong Kong director of such movies as "Fallen Angels," "In The Mood For Love," "Days of Being WIld," has transferred his cinematic poesia into short commercials for various products. In these commercials, Wai proves his individual style in cinema lives outside the confines of genre. Here I have compiled several of his commercial works. Enjoy!

Roxy Music

Sorry, I'm on a Roxy Music kick so I;m just going to post some of my favorites up here. This band is just too underrated. The band consisted of Bryan Ferry (vocals/keyboards), Phil Manzanera (guitars), Andy Mackay (saxophone), Paul Thompson (drums), and Brian Eno (synthesizers/production) was a former member of the band. Even though after his departure, Roxy Music continued to make superb music.

Roxy Music x John Lennon

Bryan Ferry and Roxy Music killing it doing a cover of John Lennon's Jealous Guy. Why isn't this guy in the rock n roll hall of fame?

O no, it's The Animals

The Animals rocked...a band which started in the 1960s as part of the British Invasion, these guys killed it. Led by frontman Eric Burdon, The Animals were a pastiche of rock, jazz, blues, and folk, on three hits of yellow sunshine. The Animals gained world wide notoriety after their release of House of the Rising Sun. Members of The Animals overtime included, Chas Chandler on bass (who later went on to discover and become the manager of Jimi Hendrix,) Eric Burdon/vocals (went on to start the band WAR), Alan Price/organ, Hilton Valentine/drums, and even at one point, Andy Summers/guitar (later went on to join The Police.)

If only

If only America wasn't so uptight, we could have things of this sort taking place in our everyday lives...

Still ill after all these years....

Eric Burdon and WAR

Eric Burdon, better know as The Animals' frontman, formed WAR in the early 70's. They were a band that innovated early forms of funk and just all out rocked. Here they cover Paint it Black by The Rolling Stones. It's definitely some funked out shit.

Stevie Wonder x Sesame Street, 1973

Stevie Wonder not only influenced the whole of music as we know it, but he helped out a couple tripped out furry space monsters as well...

Steve Allen was a 1950's and 60's grammy award winning talk show host best known for being the first host of THE TONIGHT SHOW. Following THE TONIGHT SHOW, Allen hosted a new show entitled THE STEVE ALLEN SHOW. Many artists made early appearances on this show.

Are Birds the sign of genius?

Recently, a friend of mine made a discovery that geniuses enjoy the company of birds on their shoulder. The following are examples:

Captain Beefheart- Assorted craziness, musical genius

Salvador Dali- Surrealist Artist

Marcel Duchamp- Founder of dadaist movement and artist.

SHAQ FREESTYLE

The self-proclaimed new B.I.G...this song is absurd. But he does take a couple of stabs at Kobe Bryant and the Lakers losing the finals, and another aimed at former New York Knicks star Patrick Ewing.

There are no words to describe what goes on in this video. Just wait for the Keytar solo

Quote of the Day

Naomi Campbell recently was arrested on a plane for attacking two British cops and sentenced to 200 hours of community service.
Her response :"I was called a 'gollywog supermodel'. I don't think that's really fair - do you?"

DUEL

Steven Spielberg's premiere directorial debut...This film is a great example of Spielberg's mastery of his craft at such a young age. He was 25 as of the release of this film. This film is a tale of businessman who becomes terrorized by a giant truck on the highway. If nothing else, this film shows how Spielberg was innately a master of pacing and editing, and how this went to influence his later work.

Terry Gilliam

In 2000, Director Terry Gilliam (Brazil, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas) began production on a project entitled "The Man Who Killed Don Quixote" starring Johnny Depp. Shooting was shut down after one week on the set. This is the only finished clip of the film.

Tim Burton

Made in 1982, Tim Burton was merely 24 years old when he made this remarkable short film.

Guy Maddin

This guy makes great films. Born in Canada, this is the Canadian film maker's psudo auto-biographical fantastical documentary film based on his life.

The Virgins

The Virgins just released their first self entitled album. Here is their first video. It's like a public access television show.

Marty McFly Dunks

These could become reality...The Shoes that Marty McFly wore in Back to the Future II. Even though in this photo, the person constructed their own...ballin'.

801

This band rocks...Really rare....The band 801 consists of Brian Eno and the members of Roxy Music without Bryan Ferry. They only performed several times as a band. This is a cover of The Beatles song Tomorrow Never Knows.

life of MANchild ch.1

i am MANchild. I am not elderly nor young, neither an infant nor an adolescent. I am not the father, and I am not the son. I am one thing, and one thing only. But I am only that one thing. And, I am the only one of that one thing. I am bearded like a goat, but have legs the size of chickens' arms. I am MANchild. And these are the things i LIKE.

KANSAS, this rocked my shit. Totally overshadowed by phonies.
